What happens to my items that I consigned prior to October 1, 2018?

  • All consignments added to your account prior to October 1st, 2018 will fall under our original terms & conditions. Please contact us if you have any questions regarding those terms.

How old do you have to be to consign at The Closet?

  • Starting January 1, 2019 the minimum age requirement to consign with us will be 18 years old. Minors who wish to consign with us may have a parent or legal guardian create an account on their behalf.

Do I need to bring my ID to consign at The Closet?

  • Starting January 1, 2019 all consignors will have to provide a valid US drivers license or ID when consigning with us for the first time.

How do I get paid?

  • We prepare checks for balances of $50.00 and more. You have the option of having checks mailed to your address or you can opt to pick up checks at The Closet location of your choice.

When do I get paid?

  • Consignors will receive checks during the third week of the month. If you opt to pick up your checks at one of our locations, you will be notified when your check is ready to be picked up.

How will I know what items you took and what they are priced at?

  • Items that we add to your account will be available for you to view online within 72 hours of your drop off.

How do I access my account online?

  • When we create your consignment account you will receive an email from "Consignor Access" that will include your consignor ID & temporary password. Follow the link in the email to access your account and change your password. Once logged in, you will be able to view your consigned items, their status, your consignment balance and store credit amount. You can also access your consignor account by clicking "Consignor Login" on our website!

What if I don’t agree with the price of an item?

  • It is important to know that our buyers have been extensively trained in the research and pricing process based on the guidelines set by experts with over 30 years of buying experience. Our buyers spend a lot of time researching your items to determine what they will be priced at. We also take into account prices at competitive resale entities. We don't wait for approval of prices before putting items out on floor, however if you don't agree with the price of an item please feel free to contact the store you dropped your items off at and we can explain our pricing and determine whether or not it is reasonable to price the item higher or if we should return it to you. Please note: items tend to sell fast! Please get in touch with us ASAP with any pricing concerns.

How long do I have for my items to sell?

  • The consignment period is 90 days.

Will you let me know when my items are expiring?

  • Unfortunately with the amount of clients we have, there is no way for us to notify you when your items are approaching their expiration date. However, you will be able to monitor this information yourself by accessing your account online!

What happens after 90 days?

  • It is the consignors responsibility to retrieve any items before they expire. Any items left past their expiration date will become property of The Closet Trading Company per the terms stated in our contract.

Will my items be discounted?

  • Our goal is to sell your items at full price. However, there is a chance that your items may be discounted. We reserve discounts for when customers use coupons and if we’re having a special promotion!

Can I pick up cash instead of waiting for a check?

  • Yes! You may pick up as much as $49.99 in cash once per month.

Can I still use my balance towards a purchase?

  • Of course! You can use as much of your balance towards a purchase as you would like, as many times as you would like. However, you may only pickup cash once per month.

What if I want to pick up my items before they expire?

  • That’s just fine! Keep in mind that it may take up to 14 days to gather items before their expiration date. This time allows us to coordinate getting your items back to their original store if they were transferred to another location.

What do you mean by "Net Sales"?

  • “Net Sales” refers to the price at which an item sells for after any price reductions per our terms stated in our contract. Net sales are based on individually priced items, not the total value of a group of consignment.
